Yesterday brought back horrible memories of last July, when we experienced a horrible fire in the Comore Loma & Blackhawk areas. It was truly one of the scariest things I’ve ever been through.

Yesterday afternoon, we sat on pins & needles again……..especially Blackhawk.
I looked out my window & what did I see? THIS!

I got on the phone immediately
& ordered my husband to come home!….he did.

He works in Rexburg. The wind was whipping hard up here, and I knew that we could be in trouble again. All surrounding fire departments went to work very quickly, as well as Air aid.

My stomach was churning, as I wandered around the house wondering what to grab quickly if we needed to evacuate like last year. I should just keep a bag packed for emergencies like this. You’d think I’d learn from last year.

Last night, the fire destroyed about 1500 acres in all, but no homes were lost, thanks to about 100 fireman and crew. That’s nothing compared to last years fire though. Last years fire took 2 solid days to burn out, and we were all so very lucky that we didn’t lose our homes. We are all counting our blessings again. I didn’t save all the pictures from last years fire……which was dumb of me, but here are a couple pictures from my window. I thought for sure that our home and many others would be a gonner!

Just like yesterday, the winds just kept fanning the flames farther.
Finally the winds shifted, blowing the flames away from homes.
Only one structure was destroyed by the fire, which I think was a miracle.

I’ve decided that none of us better be too attached to any material good!
We just don’t ever quite know when we might be parting with it.
We are all counting our blessings again this morning.
