Knock Knock. Who’s There? Deer. Deer Who? Deer! Everyday . . . Deer visit me. They are eating every bush and tree that resides in our yard. I can go outside, and almost be right on top of them . . . they don’t care! I took these pictures through the glass on the side […]

Wow! I can see the “fuzz” on their ears they were so close. What beautiful animals. Sorry they are making lunch of your yard, though!

  • jessica

Oh, that new yard was ours. This is the most deer we have seen in our 4 years of living here. I have loved it. Sorry to hear about your plants. Love your photo’s.

  • Mark

Hey Jonna, Iris has told me about your site, it all looks tasty. Say hello to Kenny and the girls for us. Mark

  • Now I KNOW what you do with ALL that food you cook up during the week!!!!! . . . house (yard) guests!

  • Tracy

I truly enjoy your blogs. Can I ask what kind of camera you use? Your photos are magnificent. Thank you for sharing such fun things to read and cook with us all.

Since I officially DO NOT have a life, outside of the walls of our Garden . . . I thought I’d share. My hubbie is out there at about 5:00 A.M. on the dot . . . EVERY MORNING! I however feel the need to put on Makeup and do my hair before joining him. […]

  • I sure wish you were my neighbor 🙂 What an awesome garden!!! I am so jealous. I hve never seen such big raspberries in my life! Lucky you.

I just put up 54 pint jars of carrots. They look so pretty in the jars, I just love them.

  • Liana Wilson

I have been so inspired to get off my butt and bake lately! Thanks for such an awesome blog full of great cooking ideas! And your photography is amazing too!

  • Oh, WOW, Jonna! Your hubs’ garden is huge. I do understand your plight…I’m not into dirt and digging, and that kinda stuff but I do love the fresh fruits and veggies.

I wanna be your neighbor! Just think of all the other fruits and veggies your hubs could grow here in FL and there is NO shoveling. 🙂
    ~ingrid

  • Lynn

Oh my! Look at all that deliciousness.

I totally get your plight, though. Your words took me back to my teen years. My parents had an acre and a half of garden. It was weed, weed, pick, and irrigate. All summer. Day in and Day out. Loads of work. Funny though……..I think now that all that work must be SO worth the taste of fresh. Wow. Never saw such huge raspberries before. Yum!

  • Rachel Poole

I wish I lived by you…I love raspberries and mine don’t look nearly as good as yours. For some reason, here at my home in Rigby, my raspberries don’t like me! I believe I got 4 this season. Hopefully my green thumb will get better!

  • HOLY (BEAUTIFUL) garden!!!!! How do you do it all?

PS I’m here to REMIND you it’s time to update your blog, woman! Get out of that garden and come inside!!!!!

  • Tracy

Loving your blogs and thanks for sharing. Do you use products from Gardens Alive? How do you keep you plants so healthy?

The other day I watched Addi and Bridger while their Mom & Dad went to Utah. What do you do when a little 4 yr. old proclaims . . . “I’m bored” . . . at least 20 times before 9:00 a.m. in the morning?  You quickly make a plan! Addisyn, Bridger and I decided […]

    You are so funny!

  • Brandi

MOM YOUR THE BEST!!! Bridge wakes up saying he is board…so THANKS for making it so much fun for the kids. You pictures are exquisit (sp)! I love them all. They really look wonderful and so beautiful. The colors are so vibrant. Sorry Bridge was getting frustrated with the picture taking…he doesn’t have a great deal of patience.
I still think it is just hilarious that their favorite part of the zoo was the goats! I think it is just cause they were more hands on with them…but still, THE GOATS????? So funny!
Again, THANKS TONS! The kids had a blast with you, and talk about it all the time. They wanted to have us drop them off yesterday while we exchanged our mattress. They just love to be with you, and you make them feel so special. We are so lucky!

  • Somedays I feel like the guy in the pic above your guy on the bottom left:-)

I’m almost embarrassed to post pictures of beautiful little ones, since I have daughters who are fantastic photographers.  They will simply have to look the other way, because these are too cute to not share! While babysitting, I tried really hard to capture a few moments. Trying to photograph these two little busy beavers . . . • Hi Jonna so sweet of you to pop on over to my other blog. Thank you for your kind comments. I am enjoying the project immensely. I love all your pics of your grand kids. Intent with your grandson is fantastic and the lighting just helps tell the story by bringing into focus his intense concentration. BTW love the new look of your site.

  • Tammie

    Hi Jonna!

My sister-in-laws both referred me to your website. I’m so impressed! I am a personal trainer and group exercise specialist who LOVES to bake. My clients always love to find the balance that can be attained in life if done carefully. I always tell them, “You gotta live a little and be responsible in between;)”. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with this website. Your attention to meticulous detail with the photographs is wonderful and makes it not only inspiring to try the recipe but takes out a lot of the quesions one may have had in the process! My sister-in-law served the S’more cupcakes last night at a picnic. They were superb. My family loved them. I look forward to trying some recipes on your site and recommending them to my family, friends and clients.
    Sincerely,
    Tammie

  • EVERYTHING you touch TURNS to GOLD ! ! ! LOVE the tour – so beautiful, just like YOU!

Yesterday, I went on a ride. I was smart this time.  I actually remembered to bring my camera and my Canon EOS 7D book for Dummies!  I’ve learned quite a lot from reading that book.  It didn’t have a Chapter about how to take good pictures through a bug filled windshield, however.  See . . […]

Beautiful pics! We miss you guys! One of these days in our “spare” time we’ll come visit. I promise! 😉

  • Brandi

That was a great post mom! I loved learning all of it. I did however know some of it!!! Those pictures you took look really really good. I love the first one with dad in the tractor and the ear plugs-I thought that was so neat. THEN the picture of the perfect bee in motion. That is so cool!!!! Thank goodness for those long sits in the truck and a good book for learning!!!!!

  • Curious. My husband grew up farming too. He has worked for his dad on and off for parts of our marriage (14 yrs). He is so happy when he is doing that, but we can’t pay the bills working on the small family farm. He is currently employed and unfortunately not happy. He’s keeping his eyes and ears open for something else…I saw those pics of your husband and wondered what it is that he does? Is his company hiring? My man has management experience, could sell anything, knows farming & farmers (spuds, grain, hay etc.) he works hard and is very honest. Most of our local hiring is word-of-mouth so I thought I would put it out there and see if you could tell me anything. Thanks…GREAT PHOTOS!

  • Barb

Hi! I just realized you changed your blog address. I was wondering what happened to your personal posts. Question: How do you clean the outside of your windows that are way up high? Mine are so dirty right now.

P.S. My dad is a farmer at heart. My mom would never let him go work on his dad’s farm after they got married, but I believe my dad has always thought our yard as his “farm” and he always called our lawnmower, “the tractor.”

I’m convinced. Convinced that if my hubbie had to choose between me and . . . the garden, He would certainly choose . . . the garden! I’d like you to meet Pete.    Pete’s the newest member of our family. He’s the “Keeper of the Seed.” His job is 24-7. As my hubbie puts […]

I am laughing so hard!!! Well Pete sure looks like a handsome little guy. I am so sorry that he didn’t do a very good job of keeping the critters away and I am even more sorry that you got blamed for Pete failing his job! At least you got some good pictures of the little cuties before they ran off!!! How did it feel to fire Pete???

  • Lynn

LOL!!! Good one. I would of fired Pete too. ; D

  • LOL! I’m dying here. Pete is good looking, but in a freaky way!! ha ha ha ha ha. That was a good post! Logan can’t wait to go out in the garden with Papa! He’s begging me here to be there! Love you.

  • Barb

Ha Ha! You’re hilarious. Great post.

So Prepare . . . React Innocently . . . Nethertheless  Grow I really wanted to see if my camera could focus, on anything but pictures of food. I found new life. My eyes watered the entire time! Ahhhh spring. This large tree is dead . . . but new life is found there! Do you know […]

Those pictures are just incredible. I LOVE the one of the tree with the blur. So neat. Hopefully Spring has sprung for real this time and it isn’t just teasing us again.

I wonder why this blog doesn’t update on my blog roll…I think that is really weird!

  • Jonna – LOVE all your photos and thoughts! Your blurry tree-photo is very cool. Did you zoom in while taking the photo! Nice job. KEEP UP THE POSTING – your posterity THANKS YOU for it!!!!! Plus, I love reading and looking!!!

  • Lovely photos, Jonna!

Love the Creamy Cheese Potatoes. I added a sweet onion which made it better in my family book. I can not have a lot of salt and pepper does not get along with my stomach. I am looking forward to add sour cream and bacon the next time I cook these potatoes.

  • Dawn

Awesome recipe. I have done one similar to this but with hash-browns. This one was much more tasty with my own potatoes. Did add sweet onions and bacon. Still Awesome!!

I realize that naming this section of my site, GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND WRITE . . . has simply failed me . In fact, a few people that shall remain nameless (Berta ) have reminded me tactfully of this fact.  I think I’m grateful for a life too boring to write about!  Days back, weeks ago […]

LOL! You are a hoot! Loved this!!!!

I just about peed my pants when I read this:

“How many pairs of flip flops do you own? 2 pair – That reminds me . . . a couple of weeks ago, the prayer giver in Sac. mtg., flip flopped her way clear up to the podium. It was flipping annoying! ”

YAY! Someone else who thinks the same as me about the inappropriateness of flip flops at church! ; D

WE have so much in common. Thanks for this.

Oh boo. Now I’m tagged got I read all the way to the bottom. ; S

    I will post soon.

  • Brandi

Mom you are just hilarious! I loved reading that so much. Some of them I could have pinpointed, and some threw me for a loop. I love how you added humor to most of them…and then it made me emotional when it asked you what you looked forward to. I hope Grandpa is feeling better as!!! I will try and do this asap. I wish that you would do more posts like this. I love reading your answers. I just think your amazing! Maybe for your 31 anniversary, dad will let you get a new lawn mower. I think you need to do a post about the little Honda. That would be something hilarious for everyone to read! I love you mom!

  • Jonna, you have a terrific sense of humor. I try to write anything witty and I end up feeling like a big dope! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you for sharing. I linked over from your food site. It’s fun to learn a little about the person who makes me hungry all the time.

OH CRAP!  The power is off.  Puter dies. Head for the garage, where your better half  lives most of the time. “Honey . . . did you do that?” Better half laughs – laughs some more – rolls the eyes. Shut garage door.  Swear he has something to do with power outage! Funny . . […]

  • SO FUNNY – not the power going out – but, I never thought of blaming hubby – I’ll have to remember that. SWEET POST! Beautiful photo AND YES, I’d love to listen to you play the piano for two hours AND blame hubby!!!!!

  • Brandi

Why did you blame dad??? Thats so funny!!!
Jessicas Kayden is getting baptised this saturday, and he called and asked me to play the songs for his program. I more then happily abliged to do this. IT WAS SO NICE to HAVE to sit at my piano and play. I LOVE it so muchm but when I do I have 20 extra fingers clunking at the keys…it really takes the fun away. IF ONLY…I had practiced like you asked, and IF ONLY I hadn’t challenged you tooth and nail everytime we had to practice. IF ONLY…but I am so grateful that I can sit down and play the little that I can, I just wish it wasn’t so little. I LOVE to listen to you play. It makes me feel so good inside. I just admire your ability to still challenge yourself, although I really don’t think there is anything you can’t play. I hope that my 3 like the piano, and stick with it. I love that picture of Addi…she looks like a natural sitting at that baby grand. But, I do have to say that she is only still 2…soon enough though, she will be 3!

  • WOULD YOU PLEASSSSSSSSSSE GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND WRITE MORE?????!!!!! . . . I mean, is that asking too much! . . . well if you’re baking me some cookies, I’ll totally understand!

The fact that I’m now posting to “Get Off Your Butt and WRITE” . . . almost seems like a miracle to me.  I know, it’s just a blog, but moving files from Blogger to WordPress.Org is a daunting process, for someone who knows absolutely NOTHING about hosting your own website!  I’ve learned some big […]

First…So sorry about your nasty cold. And that cough that just doesn't go away!!!
Second…Mom I think your words are just what I needed to hear this afternoon. I read these blogs, and sometimes it just makes me wonder what the heck I am doing wrong with my kids…So thanks so much for that! I agree that if we sugar coated less, we could come together a little better.

  • Lynn

    GREAT post!!!!

I am so sorry you are not feeling so well. However, I am amazed at how well you think (your brain works) while even sick. ; D

I have a private blog, because I DO bare it all. By the way….if you are interested, I will send you an invite. I think after reading your blogs for awhile now, I could trust you with my heart, family and life. ; D

    Get better soon!

  • Mary Z

I love what you said about sugar coating the blog. I have wondered that also. Now that I am turning mine into books should I add the downer stuff also. Maybe, maybe not. I find that if I focus on the good and positive in my life then I am more likely to feel that way all day. However I may add some of the challenges in also now. I am going to check that blog out. Thanks for sharing. Sorry about the cold. Yum on the cupckaes.
